What is Baptism?

Baptism is the outward sign of the inward act– something which has already taken place in the heart of the believer the moment he/she was saved (1 Pet. 3:21). Baptism represents our personal identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. You are “crucified with Christ” (standing upright in water), you are “buried” (immersed into the water), and you are “resurrected into new life” (raised out of the water). Our baptism includes the concept of spiritual baptism as defined in Rom. 6:3-5 and 1 Corinthians 12:13.  We are “saved” the moment we place our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism is a visible testimony to that faith.

What is a Dedication?

Long ago, God established the family as the primary means of communicating the ways of God to children. He designed families to speak life-giving words to their sons and daughters, teaching them to love the Lord. The most powerful thing parents can do is live out an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ in full view of their family. “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up,” Deuteronomy 6:6-9.

No one in your child’s life is going to be there in all these in-between moments like you. That’s why the family is God’s plan to communicate His love to the next generation.

After filling out a form linked at the top of this page, on an appointed day you and your family will stand before the congregation as they witness your response to a selection of questions. The congregation will stand and pledge to support you and your family in raising your child in Christ.
