It’s time to start the party! VBS 2024 is July 15-18th
We are looking for some *dramatic* folks to be part of our Drama Team for our 2024 VBS: Start the Party!
- What’s VBS?
Vacation Bible School is a children’s program that helps kids learn about the Bible during the summer alongside other children. They learn Bible stories, do crafts, dance, and all sorts of other fun activities.
- What does the Drama Team do?
Our Drama Team helps bring the Bible Stories to life on our big stage! With fun games, skits, and dances, our Drama Team gets to engage with kiddos in a fun and energetic way. During the event, our characters roam about the classrooms to join in on the fun and encourage kids to get involved.
On-Stage Roles
Host
The Host kicks off VBS! They welcome all the kids and take them through the daily Bottom Line, this year’s memory verse. They also play a bit of a game-show host. They help close each day and get kids excited to come back tomorrow!
Story Teller
The Story Teller reads out each day’s Bible Story and provides helpful context and explanation for the kids.
DJ Hype
DJ Hype is our lead dancer and helps kids get energetic during the dance portions of VBS. Like a Worship Leader, they set an example for how to get excited about worshipping through music and movement.
Imaginary Friends
The Imagination Actors are silent actors, meaning they have no lines. But their parts are HUGE! We will need big emotions, movement, and a passion to get silly on stage! The Imagination Actors will act out scenes from our Host’s “imagination” and bring the Story Teller’s words to life. They also back up DJ Hype and bring the energy with coordinated dances.

Whether it’s through theater, film, or music, we empower creatives to transform biblical teachings into real-world experiences. The Message never changes, we use our creativity to find new and relatable ways to share it!
No matter your role—onstage or behind the scenes, writing, directing, and more!—there’s a place for you here. Everyone is invited to this vibrant community, whether you’re a theater veteran, a curious newcomer, or someone rekindling an old passion. Together, we get the incredible opportunity to harness our unique talents and God-given gifts for Kingdom impact.
Dramatic Arts FAQ
Short answer, yes. For some productions, we open up the band and/or drama auditions to the wider community. But it is important to note that for other productions we reserve the right to limit auditions to existing Dramatic Arts Ministry members.
Each production is unique and will have its own age-range for parts. Some shows are adult-only casts, while others invite children of all ages to audition. To check, click on the production you are interested in auditioning for to find the age restrictions.
- Because we work directly with children, everyone will be subjected to a background check.
- All band members and actors must commit to ALL rehearsals and ALL shows. If you know you cannot attend a rehearsal, please discuss it prior to auditions.
- Actors and band members must arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to each rehearsal for pre-rehearsal prep and pray in.
- Actors and band members must be aware they are representing our ministry and agree to do so in a professional manner publicly and on social media.
- Please keep the details of the show confidential.
We reserve the right to meet with and discuss the removal of any volunteer, actor
and/or band member.
